Look at Me
Note: This story is Y2Kachu compliant. Not part of the series: Pokemon: The Love Story. This story was written because of another person's Ranma1/2 Fan fic. Though the other person's is more original, the event is touching....
Ash woke up in his sleeping bag obviously
tired. He looked at the alarm clock, it was five in the morning. He was startled
by the small brushes of wind against him. The air was warmer tonight. He looked
around seeing that the forest had a certain kind of strength in it. He saw the
flowers he had passed on the way here. He saw the rose Misty had picked yesterday.
He saw Togepi as it rocked back and forth in the wind. He saw Misty. She always
let her hair down at night, when she was the most tired. She looked better with
her hair down to Ash. She shivered in the still cold air. Her bag had not been
closed last night. Ash decided to do one kind thing, he got up and placed a
blanket on her. Pikachu was still sleeping with his small blanket which was
pinned to the ground. Brock had been sleeping with a homemade Nurse Joy doll.
Ash, though, felt cold and lonely.
Ash went to the cliff and sat on a rock three feet away from
the edge. Ash looked out onto the valley they had just crossed yesterday. It
was beautiful now. A fog covered it, more of mist... Misty. Ash looked out at
the trees and the flowers he was sitting near. He looked at the bush of white
roses, the bush where Misty picked. The bush, strangely, had no thorns on it.
The bush was thorn free and had many white roses on it even during the month
of December. Misty was in that bush. She smiled at him and picked out another
rose. She disappeared from Ash's dream. He turned back to the valley and saw
the beautiful landscape. There was a small hint of orange appearing in that
direction. It flooded the sky with color. Ash saw the clouds burst into life
from the night sky. Then a rustling startled him.
"Sorry, Ash," Misty said quietly.
"Hi. What are you doing up?" He asked almost whispering.
"What are you doing up?" Misty said in return.
"Admiring the sunrise," Ash said happily.
"Well, it's your first time," Misty said while
squinting kindly.
"It's really special now," He said. Misty thought
what made it special was the valley. Misty set her eyes on the cloud of mist
hovering above the forest below. She saw the sun's light embracing the clouds.
She noticed the beauty of the awakening birds in the background. Misty had the
white rose in her hair still let down.
"Ash, what do you think, is this flower me?" Misty
said with happiness.
"Yeah, you look great. Oh yeah, here," He handed
her the flower. Misty accepted it kindly. She looked at him with concern, though.
"What's wrong, Misty?" Ash asked quietly.
"Ash," She took a deep breath as she took in the
strength to speak to him, "Look at me, tell me what you see," Ash
was going to ask her 'what kind of a question is that?' but then he thought.
He looked in to her eyes. He looked at her heart and what it felt inside. He
looked back on all the events that took place in their friendship. He looked
deep into her. His features began to soften.
"When I look at Misty, I see a young... woman. She's
a strong hearted friend who cares for all things. I see someone who lives deep
underneath a tomboyish skin, trying to find a friend. I see a beautiful woman
who feels she is now mature enough to live on her own and wants to. She wants
to care for someone but wants to be cared about. But, she's afraid of losing
that someone for she'll go mad with pain. She wants to spend her life with this
person. She cares dealry for him and would never let him go... and neither will
he," Ash finished in a soft whisper. He calmly backed away from her. Misty,
could only look at him with respect and care. She loved him so much. But, how
did he know how she felt about her fear and her pain. She watched as he turned
to her.
"Misty, look at me, tell me what you see," Misty
felt shocked to be asked this question by him.
"Ash, I see someone who's a true friend. I see a man
striving to be powerful. I see someone who's always a friend beacuse he is kind
and compassionate. But under that childish layer, there is a strong sense of
dignity. There is someone who can never quit and will not lose. I see a persistant
person who is never willing to quit on his friends because he but them ahead
of himself. He is the one who will be there whenever you are sad, torn, or hurt.
He knows his friends are more important than him, that is what sets him apart
from everyone else," Misty smiled. They faced each other with a smile.
Misty looked at Ash with more respect as did Ash for Misty. They met eyes. The
sun rose wildly, kissing the sky as they did...
Pika's Prints: A wonderful short fic by the Chuster. Hey, Ash is happy, Misty's happy, where's my part in this story??? Wait, I wrote it. Anyway, I ask you this one thing, ask your friend, pal, or significant other this question. You could be surprised about what they know about you that even you don't know about yourself. -Pikachu
