Note: yet another famous note, If you read the story, you mustve read the story I Love You? You might want to read how I got this idea at the end of the story.
Ash stayed in bed the rest of the day since he returned.
He stared at his ceiling for what felt like only minutes. He now is renting
the apartment that Misty used to live in. He remembers hearing of Misty moving
away to Britain, but he didnt know if it was true or not. He wanted so
much to feel her in his arms again. He turned over in bed. He silently breathed
onto his pillow. He began to think more on Misty and why she would want to leave.
He didnt want her to. He loved her so much. His every thought was of her,
until the wedding was called off. He felt sorry as she was. She thought she
was the immature one. To Ash, that was too funny, he was the one that was immature.
He acted childish and foolish. But her learned one thing through all of this.
Love is hard to go through. Why you love someone isnt based on what you
do its what you feel and think about the other person. Love is hard to
come by, you cant pick it up on the street. Ash learned so much through
all of this. Yet, why did it have to end so horribly. He flipped over to face
the ceiling. He stared at it, and started to fell nothing. Then he felt his
eyes hurt and he realized he was crying. He has never cried about something
like this before. Sure, there were those old childhood crushes he had, but now
he was 20. He never cried over those old childhood crushes, now it was a marriage.
He never realized that it hurt this much. He wanted Misty again. Maybe, it wasnt
meant to be, though. Maybe, it wasnt for him. Maybe, he was supposed to
be alone, maybe.
It was one in the morning. His phone rang. He sniffed and
picked it up.
Hello? he said with a small sniff at the end.
Ash, whats wrong? the voice said. She was
old friend, Jessica. She was one year younger than Misty who was now 22. Jessica
had a brownish hair color. She was somewhat slim and enjoyed reading. She was
one of the first friends Ash and Misty met when they first got to Pallet University.
Ash met up with the girl only once a week. She studies psychology and is also
learning how to write books.
"Ash, you want to move on right? Why dont I go
over? Ill come over right now, she said sternly and she hung up
the phone. Ash set it down and turned over and started to cry. He felt the hot
tears brush his face. His eyes had already turned red. He no longer felt a thing.
He only felt his own hurt. He felt grief an sorrow, nothing were to help him.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. It was probably Jessica. She, along
with most of the people at the university, lived in these apartments. She was
probably the second most popular student at the university besides Ash. He was
popular because no one at the university ever considered love. Ash had bee surrounded
by it for the past 12 years. He got up and went to the door and opened it. Jessica
was wearing a nice night gown and a robe.
Ash sniffed again, Whats with the clothing?
Im going to sleep here. YOU are going to stop
thinking of Misty. You know why? Because you havent made one B on anything
at school. You cant even think straight. You havent said a word
to anyone anywhere. I also noticed that your mom is extremely worried about
you., She scolded him.
I feel lonely, was Ash could say. He shivered
a little. It was fairly cloudy and cool night.
Ash, if you ever feel cold or tired, you can come to
me, Jessica comforted. There was this silence as Ash sat in his bed staring
at Jessica in the eye. Jessica began to suddenly blush.
Ash, I.. lets go out for a little something, say
pizza, Jessica said silently. Ash nodded and silently rubbed his eyes
and they both dressed in something a little suited for the outside and left.
Ash and Jessica walked back to the apartment. They decided
that it would be all right to see each other. Ash didnt really mind at
all. Misty was long gone now. But, maybe it wasnt the right thing to do.
Maybe Misty was still waiting for him. He didnt dare think of any of this
in front of Jessica.
Id stay over at your place, but I have early classes.
I know your first class starts at like noon or something. Well, Ill see
you later then. Maybe we could go out again, Jessica said.
Most people who date usually go out more than once,
Ash said coolly.
Okay, then, in two days, Saturday, Ill..
Jessica began to feel shy by now.
Ash trying to quickly respond to her shyness spoke, Ill
pick you up,
Jessica nodded and left Ash. He slowly closed the door. Jessica
smiled all the way to the other side of the small road to her apartment. Ever
since Misty introduced her to Ash, she had developed a strong crush on him.
Jessica really didnt want to tell Misty this because she was afraid Misty
would over react. She really did love Ash. She sometimes didnt fell the
heart to show it. He knew that Jessica felt strongly for him. Jessica told herself
that again and again. This time, she believed it. She felt her heart melt at
him. She never really had a love life before. She really had crushes before.
This was different though, did Ash really want to be with her. Was Ash willing
to give up on Misty in just one year? Jessica felt nothing like this. Her problem
was, what if Ash started to re-think back to Misty, what would she do? She hadnt
known Misty for very long and didnt know what to say about her. Misty
was just a great friend and fiancee of Ash and they spent a lot of their early
life together. She didnt know what to do. Jessica breathed a few times
and reached her apartment door. She decided that the idea would go away after
the night was over.
Ash spent the next day, Friday, Ash frantically looked everywhere
for something to wear to see Jessica. He went around the mall looking for nice
shirts and possibly something for her, maybe a necklace or a bracelet or.. a
ring. He stared at his finger of which he was wearing the ring Misty had rejected
about one year ago. It was their engagement ring. It sparkled and gleamed into
his face. He turned his hand over and read the small writing in a neat cursive:
Misty was all it said. He felt his throat begin to close in. He
quickly snapped and went on.
It was about six at night. He spent all his time, all day,
looking for something to wear. He finally found something and a beautiful necklace
for Jessica. He still felt that going out with her meant that he was abandoning
Misty. Ash looked, in his image, like a lecher or some pervert just running
from girl to girl looking for trouble. He spent the rest of the night wondering
if his absent teacher had called in sick for tomorrow too.
The two spent their Saturday night evening dinner at the
El Corozon which was Spanish for the heart. Ash learned
that this was a great place to go for a first date and they didnt serve
Spanish food either. They decided were directed to table seven and sat down.
Ash, this is really nice, Jessica said.
Yeah, I know, Ash spoke softly.
Hi, Im Mist.. the waitress suddenly stopped.
Excuse me, your name was?
MISTY!!!
Ash exclaimed but not loud enough for many people to hear.
Uh, I suppose this would be Misty, Jessica whispered.
Ash, um, she decided it wasnt her choice
to stop Ash so she went on. Well, what do you wish to order, sir,
Misty felt this weird twinge in her stomach.
The rest of the night went by oddly. Ash felt uncomfortable.
Jessica felt left out. Misty felt she shouldnt come out. So the rest of
the night went on pretty much according to the way Ash had planned it. He still
didnt know what to do. Ash carried on normally. He took Jessica to her
apartment quickly after dinner except that Jessica pulled him in.
Ash, please, if you still want to go out with her then
just tell me now, Jessica pleaded to him.
Ash had no idea how to answer. He decided that this is what
he could say, Misty is behind me now. It sounds mean but, that life is
over. It does sound mean, but.. I love you now, Ash whispered. He kissed
the brown haired girl and walked off to his place.
Ash couldnt get over any of the things that happened
tonight. He felt that Misty was still a part of his life. So he drove back to
the restaurant and decided he must talk with her. He met up with the manager.
Hey, kid, its closing time, said the manager
in a somewhat harsh voice.
Im looking for Misty,
In the back kiddo,
Ash saw Misty ready to leave as she was getting her coat.
Misty, Ash called.
I have to go, I have class early tomorrow, Misty
felt a little shy after today and was trying to avoid Ash.
Wait, I want to talk to you, Ash spoke firmly.
Misty felt that she must talk to him too. two minutes,
Misty, I cant understand yet why you left me.
I dont get the point of telling me you love me and telling everyone that
you were madly in love with some guy you met on the road. Some kid that bumped
into you and stole your heart as well as your bike. I dont know why youd
say any of those things and leave me behind for what, Ive got class
early tomorrow.? Ash exclaimed.
One minute, Misty said impatiently.
Misty, tell me why you left me, Ash demanded.
Why?, Misty began to feel sorry for herself and
sat down as well as Ash. I dont know, I didnt feel mature
enough for you, is that all? Misty whimpered.
Why didnt you tell me? Ash asked.
What would you have said?
I would say, its just cold feet. You just needed
to calm down and think positive. You could just realize that you were going
to be married to someone you really love, Ash spoke.
Is that the truth? Would you have really said that?
Yes
No, Ash felt confused.
So then what would you have REALLY said, Misty
emphasized.
I would have said, I cant really know either.
I dont know what to do. I would be just as scared as you are. I couldnt
do much better than you were, Ash said truthfully.
See, I didnt truly know if I could even go through
with it either. I didnt want to hurt you or hurt myself. But, I realize
that running way hurt more, Misty said concerned. Ash nodded.
They were silent for a while. So are you still going
to Pallet University?
Yes, Misty answered, Is Jessica your new
girlfriend?
Um.. yeah. Still live at the same complex?
Yeah, Misty answered.
There was another short silence.
Well, my number is 706, you can come and visit me,
Misty stated.
Okay, mines 302, your old place,
Here, take the ring, Ash took off the engagement
ring.
Okay, just take my necklace to remember me, she
took off her necklace and put it on Ash while Ash put the ring on Misty.
The two kissed shortly but passionately. They whispered good-bye
to each other and left.
